Make a Difference

Here at the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery we recognize the commitment of our volunteers as one of the most important assets to our Gallery.  Volunteers build capacity and strengthen the fabric of the Gallery by providing us with skills, talents and perspectives that are essential to our relevance, vitality and sutainability.

Volunteering at the Gallery is about building relationships-connecting people to causes they care about such as supporting local and regional artists, preserving art history, or enriching the lives of children and adults through art education and workshops. In addition, voluteers help with such things as special events, the delivery of programs and services and so much more.

If you are keen on learning, enjoy interacting with the public, and are passionate about art, we are eager to hear from you!

Youth Volunteering Opportunities

Make a difference in your community by joining the more than 60 volunteers who help bring ART to EVERYONE at the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery. Our volunteers are of all ages and backgrounds. Some of the most popular volunteer opportunities are below, but we're always coming up with something new. Do you have a special area of interest, skill, or talllent to help bring art to life? Do you have a passion fro people and art? We need your help.

Jr. Docent:

Docent is a word that museums and galleries commonly use to describe their tour guides. This is the person that will lead a group of visitors through an exhibition and lead the tour. Our Jr. Docent program is designed to get youth involved with the art history side of our programming and begin to get comfortable with groups of people and sharing information. Jr. Docents will typically be paired up with another Jr. Docent or with a more experienced Docent to begin.

Volunteer Positions:

From special events to docent tours, we rely on our voluteers to successfully run the gallery's diverse programs.  Read below for descriptions on the volunteer positions at the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery.
