Join us for a conversation with Edmonton based artist Lyndal Osborne about her works in the upcoming exhibition, 'Our Own Back Yard.'
Over the last 40 years, Osborne has developed a remarkable body of sculpture and installations that have brought her art work to national attention. Through her observation, collection and interpretation of materials from the natural world, Lyndal enhances our understanding of both the natural world and the lasting impacts of human interaction our environment. Grounded in a fascination with the processes of growth and decay, her work speaks of the possibility of transformation, fragility of our world.
Osborne was born in Australia and studied at the National Art School in Sydney and received her MFA from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA. Since 1971, Osborne has been based in Edmonton, and is a Professor Emeritus in Department of Art and Design, University of Alberta. Osborne has been exhibiting in Canada and internationally since the early 1970's and has shown in over 350 exhibitions. Her work is represented in numerous Canadian collections, including the National Gallery of Canada and the Art Gallery of Alberta.
