Sarnia, ON – Lambton County artists interested in displaying their work are invited to make their submission to the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery (JNAAG) on or before February 18, 2018. The Gallery’s Look & See 2018 Call for Entry is open to all Lambton County artists including those who have never before shown in a formal exhibition. Selected artists will have their work presented in one of two time periods: June 1 - 17, 2018 or July 6 - 15, 2018.

“Look & See is an opportunity for artists living in Lambton County to receive a curatorial studio visit, have their art considered for a 'Pop Up' exhibition at the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery, and present a public talk and tour about their work,” explains Gallery Curator/Supervisor, Lisa Daniels.

Eligibility
Artists must live in and produce their artistic work in Lambton County. All work must be original. Any media will be considered. Those who have had an exhibition at the JNAAG in the past three years or are scheduled for an exhibition at the gallery within the next three years are ineligible. Some accommodation may be made for works that have been shown elsewhere in Lambton County within the past three years.

Submissions must include your artist statement, an entry fee of $25.00 (members of the Gallery can submit for free), a USB with JPEG images of up to 12 works or short video of time-based work, and special installation instructions if required. All submissions must be mailed or dropped off at the Gallery. No electronic submissions will be accepted.  For an application form and submission details visit the JNAAG’s website, www.JNAAG.ca.

The gallery's curatorial team will review all submissions from which studio visits in March 2018 will be determined.

About the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery: Owned and operated by the County of Lambton and located in the centre of Sarnia’s downtown cultural district, a block from the waterfront, the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery offers a wide range of exhibitions, tours, lectures, and programs. Housed in the Thom building (also known as the Saks building), the gallery’s permanent collection comprises over 1,200 Canadian historical and contemporary works.

Revolving exhibitions from the gallery’s permanent collection along with temporary exhibitions by contemporary artists and works from other galleries open a window on the past and help preserve and present our visual culture heritage locally and nationally.
