Develop your creative skills, make new friends, and explore your community. This program led by local artist Patricia Cook, is filled with a variety of exciting new experiences that will allow youth to discover new passions.
Do you love games and have always dreamed of making your own? Turn your ideas into a card game to enjoy with friends and family! Together we will explore both traditional and fantastical themes, empowering you to create a deck of cards as unique as you are. At the end of this workshop, you will have made your own set of illustrated cards, a rule book, and a unique game box to bring home.
From mural painting to group storytelling, teamwork beading to doodle art, join us for a day of friendship and positive collaboration! Throughout the workshop we will explore different materials together, creating cooperative pieces where everyone’s contribution is valued and celebrated. Let’s blend our diverse talents and unique preferences to make awesome art!
Learn how to repurpose old clothing into wearable masterpieces! Experiment by adding new materials to items such as hats, headbands, t-shirts and tote bags. Emphasis will be on empowering each artist to create pieces that showcase their taste and style. The day will end with a fashion show, where everyone will be welcome to showcase their new garments on the JNAAG catwalk!
Close your eyes and think about your dream pet. Perhaps you’re thinking of a puppy, or maybe a chinchilla? How about a dragon or unicorn? Real or imaginary, let’s create them out of clay! In this workshop, we will bring our tiny pets to life by designing their look, imagining their personality, and writing & illustrating their origin story. We will also use recycled material to make a habitat for your creature so you can bring them home in style at the end of the day.
